Hi there! We are halfway though the week, and we still have a TON to do. The good news is, we are NOT rushing through anything and I am seeing so much improvement! Each day we get to more and more. Soon, we will be off and running full steam ahead!
In reading today, we did part one of our group placement test. These tests help place your child in the appropriate small group level. Kids took them very serious. I appreciate that. We will finish those up tomorrow.
In CC Meeting, we have been creating our Character Warrior shields. Kids are taking an in depth look at the 6 character traits and how they are defined in school We did fairness yesterday and today we did responsibility. Then the kiddos create a goal on one specific area that they need to work on under each trait. Ask your child what they wrote on their shield for fairness and responsibility thus far. If they can tell you what they are working on AND their plan to work on it, then write the word SHIELD in the planner for $10 tomorrow. We will all be dubbed knights and dames by the end of the week!
We did our first assessment in math today. We practiced, practiced, and practiced writing numbers in all three forms and finding the value and place value of numbers. I will grade those tonight and see if we are ready to move on.
Homework tonight is an RLJ check in letter to Ms. Erickson. RLJ stands for Reflective Learning Journal. Kids are to write me at least a half page letter telling me about school thus far. They can ask for help here, tell me about their frustrations or joys, ask to be moved away from others, and so on. My only rule is that it has to be about school! It is due tomorrow morning.
There is a PTA meeting tomorrow morning at 8:30. I am planning to attend since your kiddos are in art at that time. I am excited to hear all the fun things Arrowhead's PTA has in store for this year. Please join us if you can.
When using our whiteboards this week, I have noticed that we are in need of some erasers. Otherwise, we are going to run out of kleenix before cold season even hits. So...please remind your kiddos to bring in an old sock to use as their eraser. We talked about the sock monster in the dryer and how there is always one sock that loses its match. That would be the perfect sock to bring in! Having those tomorrow would be awesome! Thanks.
A HUGE, HUGE, HUGE thank you to Haylee, Casasha, and Taryn's moms for taking up the Saturday Live basket. I will call you soon to discuss the details. Another HUGE, HUGE, HUGE thank you to Chase's mom for agreeing to be our room mom and keep us in line when it comes to PTA events. This position is all new to me, so I will call you when I know more! Thank you!!!!!!!!
Well, I sure hope that your night is wonderful.
Ms. Erickson
