Hi there. I look forward to visiting with those of you that are coming tonight for conferences.
Homework tonight is two items.

2. Go online and listen to story, The Nuclear Project, by Kimberly Feltes. I modeled how to do this in class. But here it is again...
a. Go to Arrowhead Homepage.
b. Go to students tab.
c. Go to LEAD 21 Login
d. Login (kids wrote usernames and passwords in planners today)
e. Go to Unit 2 up top.
f. Go to ebooks online tab on left side
g. Go down to the small books on bottom.
h. Click on the farthest one on the right (has picture of rocky canyon on it)
i. Go to bottom contents tab
j. select selection 2: The Nuclear Project.
k. Kids may either read it silently, aloud, or listen to it online by pushing the speaker on each page.
There will be a quiz on this story. Those that do not have internet access will need a note in the planner to be excused from the online version, and a hard copy will come home over the weekend to read. No one said that this was an issue in class, so I am assuming that all have internet access. Let me know if problems arise.
During our computer lab time today we did something a little different. Kids had to log onto their D2 Google accounts, take a practice spelling test, and then share the document with me through my email. Wowzers! Most did great. Those that didn't get on, spent time with Mr. Casey to learn how again. We will continue to do this each week. The hardest part for them was not looking at their fingers while typing. They had to use both hands on homerow keys and were not allowed to chicken peck letters. Eventually, I will speed up the test, but for now they are still learning where those letters are. Wanting more practice homework??? Do this with your kiddos and make them use correct typing skills. The more they practice, the faster they will get.
Due to the short day and it being Montana's Birthday tomorrow and having kids gone on trips, I have moved the 3 minute multiplication drill to Monday. Please continue to use those flashcards at home this weekend. 0-12s.
As stated above, tomorrow is Montana's Birthday. We became a state on November 8, 1889. Have your child figure out how old Montana will be. If they can, using subtraction and not a calculator, write the number of years in the planner for $10 tomorrow. We will celebrate our great state tomorrow with Mrs. Jeziorski's class by making MT shaped sugar cookies and creating them into maps. We will put in mountains (Chocolate Chips), rivers (licorice), cities (mini m&ms), lakes (gummy bears), and of course the frosting will be blue for our amazing big sky state!!! Kids may eat their product for snack or save it to take home. No worries, I will get some pictures for the blog. :0) Happy Birthday Montana!!!!
Tomorrow is the last day for the Book Fair. It is open tonight until 6 as well. A HUGE thank you to Trevor's Family and Max's Family for purchasing a book off of my wish list for the class. I can't wait to use them to bring our learning to life! Thank you!!!
Next Thursday is Donuts for Dads here at Arrowhead. Your child is invited to grab their favorite father or father figure, come on down to the gym from 7:15-8:00 am, and enjoy breakfast! Don't worry moms...your turn will come too!
Our Barnes and Noble Holiday Night will be December 5th from 4-8. Please block out those days so you can join us. Volunteers are needed. Please let me know if you can help out for an hour or two or more. It sounds like quite the production with lots of fun activities and prizes. :0)
Lastly, a memo from Mrs. Meier:

RE: Housing construction across the street from Arrowhead School
There has been and will continue to be housing construction taking place across from
school on 38th Street. Safety among the construction area is a top priority and I'm
concerned when kids are playing on the dirt piles while walking to and from school.
The teachers and I would appreciate your help in reinforcing with your children the
importance of walking on the sidewalk and staying away from all construction areas.
More homes will be built and I want our children to be safe. THANK YOU!!
I hope that you have a great night!
Ms. Erickson
