Hello there.
I have a class today down at the Lincoln Center for Lead 21, so I will make this short and sweet.
Homework tonight is Accelerated Math. Last time I gave this for homework, I had some kids come back not quite ready to scan. Unless your child's name is Haylee, Casasha, Trevor, or Emily then they HAVE to be ready to scan tomorrow morning upon their arrival. Those that aren't will pay a stiff $200 fine. Some kiddos haven't scanned since the last time I did this. Yikes. They should be scanning at least once or twice a week in order to show growth throughout the year. This is all on their level and speed. It should be challenging!!!!! Please feel free to help them, but then have them try the next one on their own. Haylee, Casasha, and Trevor need to only do one page due to their Honor Choir Concert tonight.
Remember, if your child is ever unable to do homework due to a busy schedule, I need to have a note in the planner or email to have it extended or excused. Thanks.
This Thursday is a family fun night at Arrowhead. Kids and their families will all get to help paint some murals that will be displayed around the building. So, grab those paint clothes, and come on in from 6:30 to 7:30 at Arrowhead. Fun times with the family!
I have some people asking me to get together some makeup work for upcoming vacations. Just a reminder, that I don't do make up work. I take great effort to plan lessons that need to be taught by me in the classroom. If kids are not here for the lesson, then how can I expect them to do the work? Vacations are for family time. That is what I want them to be for you. Family time is soooooo important. Please enjoy it, and I will work with them to get caught up on lessons upon their return. They are always welcome to put together a fun presentation to share when they come back. (Only exception: if we are reading a novel).
Lastly, ask your child if they can tell you the difference between a sentence and a sentence fragment. If they can (Sentence has BOTH a subject and a predicate, and a sentence fragment is missing either the subject or predicate) then write Sentence in the planner for $10 tomorrow.
