Hello there.
Tomorrow is picture day. The kids all wanted to wear pink, green, or blue shirts/dresses. They thought as long as the top half matches they will all be great. Individual pictures will also be taken UNLESS your child returned the small blue sheet saying you didn't want their picture taken. So far I have those returned from Taylor, Ty, and Nicolas. Students also need to bring their order forms tomorrow in order to secure their class picture. Smile big!!!!
There is no homework or spelling this week. However, we played some fun food chain games in Lead 21 today. The games helped us see the content come to life. They are off to the right under my favorite sites. The kids are welcome and encouraged to play them. I have tried and tried to beat the snake, but I just can't do it. I must have a BELIEVE problem.. :0)
We had a guest speaker today. Inquiry is having a question and then discovering the answer through multiple ways. Have you ever wondered what happens to your letter when you put it in the mailbox? Have you ever wondered how a mailman gets all those letters to the correct house in one day? Well, my good friend Ken, whom we lovingly call Postal, shared the entire process with the kids today. He drilled home why kids need to learn to write neatly now and in real life. When people don't the mailman can't deliver packages. He also shared about writing in pencil vs. pen on packages and letters. Postal also shared the demands of his job. Emily got a taste of this today when she had to carry a 35 pound bag, magazines in her arm, and letters in the same hand. (Sorry about the glare. The bags have reflector tape.) Did you know that mailmen have only 5 seconds to get from one mailbox to the next when on a Billings Walking route. Wow! He walks up to 12 miles a day and is watched by a supervisor and tracked on GPS. Holy moly!!! Ask your child to share one other fun fact that they learned with you. They were all into the topic of man vs. dogs. :0) If they share, write POSTAL in the planner for $10 tomorrow.
This weekend Mr. Chase had an amazing accomplishment. He took 5th at the Expo Science Fair at MSUB. There were 60 contestants, so that is pretty darn great!!!! I am so proud of him! Well done Chase! (And he got his red belt!) What a great weekend for him!
Congratulations to both Taylor and Max, Caden, and McLean's basketball teams for taking first place in their tournaments. WooHoo. Haylee also did very , very well on her cheer competition! What talent we have in here. (Nicolas…don't forget to have mom text me that date and time. :0))
I think that about does it for today! Have a wonderful night and let's all hope for sunny weather tomorrow. Kids will be OUTSIDE for gym class, as pictures are in the gym. Dress warm.
