Ha Ha Ha!!! Happy April Fool's Day! You all knew that I would love teaching on this day with this group. Little did I remember that today was also picture day and kids would be eating in the classroom during lunch. This gave them free reign over their time to prank me back while I was out of the room. :0) I came back to taped desk drawers, syrup on my water bottle, my screen shade taped so I couldn't put it up, my computer taped shut, and kids hiding in cupboards waiting for me to open them. Yikes! They also changed the schedule so they had an afternoon recess. Since it was up there, I said, "Well, I guess we have to do it." So we got all our stuff on, lined up, and ready to go, and then I got the last laugh. I yelled, "April Fools!" We all sat back down and did MT. History as planned. :0) Man ole Ms. Erickson! What a fun day!!!!!!

In math today, we started back in the math book at page 4. We went page by page reviewing some of the fun little shout outs I taught them in order to remember some key concepts. After awhile of doing this, it was so rewarding to hear someone say, "Man, we have learned a ton this year." I stopped and said, "Yes! Isn't it awesome knowing that you could open to anyone of these 500 plus pages and be able to do any problem?" We will continue/finish the review tomorrow.

Tomorrow is our first day of NWEA Map testing. We will test after lunch and in the area of Reading. I gave each child their score that they earned on the test they took way back in the first month of school. I then had them add 8 points. This is the score we would like to see tomorrow. They soooooo have this. I also shared with them that all Rusty and I can ask is that they do their very best and shine bright like diamonds! Each child will get a little diamond to put by their computer tomorrow to help remind them of this fact. Reminders from you at home tonight about going slow, looking back for answers in the text, and not giving up when it seems challenging will help reassure them that testing is not about testing, but about showing the world how very smart you are. It should be a fun time, not a dreaded time (for teacher or student). I am SUPER excited to see their growth. I am already beyond proud of them and they haven't even opened up the computers yet. Protein in lunches would be great tomorrow. Kids may also chew gum and have a water bottle near by. We are hoping to earn $100 tomorrow for perfect attendance. Can we do it????? I BELIEVE so!

Report cards came home today. Please sign and return (after you do your happy dance of course) with the Tuesday folder tomorrow. Those that do will earn $ 50.

Lastly, I leave you with some sad news. I hope you all know how much I love blogging to you each and every day. However, now that spring has sprung and my kids have sports after school, I just won't be able to do it anymore. I will miss writing it as much as you miss reading it. I am not really sure how you will now know what we are doing, but I am sure you will find a workable solution. If you think you can, write APRIL FOOLS in the planner for $10. :0) Gotcha! I would never, ever stop blogging. I love it!

Have a wonderful night pranking your children! You know I will.
