The afternoon consisted of small reading groups and spelling work. We had to be calm and quiet as our neighbors were testing today. We had a fun time discussing our ecosystems though. Kids will be selecting their Inquiry question on Friday. No worries on the home front help at this point. :0)
Many parents and kids have asked if I am going to move to the 5th grade next year. I am sadly not. I absolutely love the 4th grade and all that goes with it. I keep telling the kiddos that they are ready to move on. Of course there is only one Ms. Erickson (thank goodness), but they will love all the 5th grade teachers. I have so enjoyed working with all the kids in here. I would LOVE to work with them during the summer if you feel it is needed too. Just write me a note in the planner and we can talk times that work for both of us. :0) I am in town quite often. There are so many kids that I need to touch, so I have to let these ones go as students and hopefully now they will be become life long friends. :0) As for parents, I have loved blogging to you. I hope that you always feel you can come to me for help or advise forever and ever and that we too can become friends. :0)
Homework tonight is an edit paragraph. Kids need to find the mistakes in the paragraph, and then write it correctly over again. Some kids used their homework coupons on this one. No worries…there is always another one for tomorrow. :0)
Tuesday folders came home today. What would I do without Max's mom??? She keeps me in line and organized with those things. A HUGE thank you to her. Please sign and return tomorrow.
Last week, there was a typo on the Memories for Moms date on the flyer that came home. Please note the date change. It said, Thursday, April 11th. It is really FRIDAY, April 11th. That is THIS FRIDAY before school. Come enjoy a cup of coffee and a donut on us. :0) You deserve it moms! I will be there to take mommy daughter pictures. Please make sure I get yours. :0)
Just a reminder to send in copies of sports schedules. I have many kids telling me about games, but I can't remember them two days later. I LOVE coming to them, especially those on the weekends. Beau has soccer every Monday so if your child does too, just let me know which field and time and I would love to swing by.
Spelling words are up and posted to the right. Alternate test takers tested today. I shared with the class that if they are missing more than ten words the first time, they may want to go back to the book test for awhile to build up their vocabulary and confidence again. The alternate test is designed to not be a complete study test. It is one that kids use their spelling skills they already have and apply them to new words. They also don't miss same words that repeat from week to week, like there, their, and they're. If I ask them to go back to the book, it is because I want them to succeed on their level. They know who they are. They are welcome to join again at a later time if they want too.
As you can see, I forgot to write the language scores in again. Drats. I am losing my brains. :0( I will put it on my to do list for tomorrow.
We didn't get to do much language today, but we had just enough time to do a mini lesson at the end of the day. Luckily, Casasha wore the perfect shirt. We have been talking about commas in class. When you don't add in a comma, special people can get eaten! Yikes! Poor Grandma. First she is getting ran over by a reindeer and now she is being eaten. Love it! :0)

Have a great night!
Ms. Erickson
