Happy Sunday! I had a great time watching many kids in action on Saturday morning. Ty impressed me with his ability to stop a fast flying grounder, batting extremely well, and playing catcher! Way to go Ty! Taylor once again proved herself skillful on the soccer field. She made a great goal and she is one heck of a defensive player. I snuck over to Taryn's game as well during half time. She was attacking that ball as well. Lastly, I went over to the Lacrosse field to watch Chase and Max. I have no clue how to play or watch this game but a few things became clear. One, there is no out of bounds. Two, you, for some reason, twist the net while you run or have the ball. Three, the ball is very hard to see. Finally, the face off is super intense. Both Max and Chase did a great job out there. Have to be quick on that field for sure! Thanks for inviting me!
Friday's Memories with Moms was a HUGE success. It was so fun to see and sit with some of you. Our kids are all growing up way too fast. There are times, being a mom is so tough. Watching them grow up and away from us, is one of the hardest parts in my opinion. Thank goodness for quiet times at home where they sneak in hugs and I love yous! I think I was able to capture all pictures except Trevor's mom who snuck out on me. :0) Enjoy!
A BIG thank you also to Mr. Dowler for helping out. What a great dad! :0)
In math, we have been connecting with American Indians. We started to build our star quilts using only a rhombus. It is fun to see how each one is turning out differently. We will finish them up this week.
This week is a short week. It is a half day on Thursday and kids are off on Friday and Monday. Happy Easter and Spring Break! My week will look a little different. I have my Emma's recorder concert on Tuesday afternoon, so kids will have a sub half day. Then Zach and I are going to Chico (thanks to the Crawford family!) on Wednesday and Thursday. So, I will not be there either one of those days. I am not a big fan of taking days off, but the Chico event is only on weekdays, and I LOVE Chico. We are going with friends, so it will be an awesome time. I will not blog on these days, but will blog the following Monday. The following week, I may or may not take Tuesday off. It is Earth Day and that is a special day to me. My little sister, Kristy, was born on that day. As it approaches, I will see how my emotions are. Some years I am fine, but sometimes it is just too much for me. Remembering her is getting easier as time goes by, but there are times that it hits me like a train wreck. I have found that being with kids is the best medicine for these feelings so we shall see. :0)
Even though it is a short week, we will have Spelling and homework. Alternates will test tomorrow and books on Friday. In Reading, we will spend time with the iPads to research our Inquiry questions. We will then prepare to present them in class. All of this will be done at school.
In MT History, we have been discussing Lewis and Clark and the Louisiana Purchase. Ask your child to share with you the Who, What, Where, When, and Why of the Louisiana Purchase. They should tell you the following:
Who: Jefferson
What: Doubled the size of the US with 15 new states.
Why: To obtain the Mississippi river and trading around it. Also to find the NW passage.
When: 1803
Where: Napoleon and Jefferson never met. It was all done through messengers.
If they can share this with you write LOUISIANA in the planner for $10.
Have a wonderful week!
Ms. Erickson
