The Eskimos had fifty-two names for snow because it was important to them: there ought to be as many for love. Margaret Atwood

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!! Tomorrow is the fun class party. We will start at 10:30 and ending at noon. Kids will be dismissed to go home tomorrow at noon, as it is a half day. I can't wait to see all those fun Valentine's Day boxes. Kids also need to bring in their cards to be delivered. We will deliver them during the party. A HUGE thank you for all the volunteers that are helping to make our party a big success.

Today, we had some serious Montana History fun! We learned about the different games kids would play to learn life lessons back in the 1700s. One of the games was double ball. We talked about how this game has the potential to get a little wild and people could get hurt. However, the Native way was to be respectful and play safe. We also talked about how the opposite team would pick the other players  stick to play with, giving them the best one out of respect. Then, we went to the gym and played the game, three on three. It was awesome!!! The kids were very respectful and played safe. That being said, we walked away with only two accidents. Yay!!!! Both kids were fine after a few minutes with an ice pack. :0) The kids LOVED playing this game, and we had some super skilled double ball players out there. I think all Chase's lacrosse skills payed off because he was rocking the court, and Riley came out of no where and scored many goals. Wowzers! Adelaide and Abi were also right in there stealing the ball from the boys. Sweet! I am so glad that I took the Indian Education for All Native Games class and was given the time to widdle down all my willow sticks. It was fun to play with the real equipment!

Homework tonight is to write an RLJ entry to Ms. Erickson. I also gave out another challenge balance puzzle. Please give limited help on this one. It was fun to hear their feedback this morning on how it went last night. Many of them said that mom or dad finally said enough and sent them to bed. :0) That is awesome. I LOVE that it challenged their brains! Remember, this is optional homework. All I want is for them to try. We go over them in class together.

Spelling tests tomorrow. Last chance study tonight. We will take them tomorrow right before the party.

Well, I think that is about it. Have a fantastic evening and long weekend. Kids are back in class on Tuesday. I will blog again on Monday by 4.

Happy Valentines Day!
